Installing any piece

Every Maisonblock piece installs the same way: one Liquid file and its assets go into your theme's code, then the piece appears in the theme editor. No app, no account to connect.

Work on a copy. In Shopify go to Online Store › Themes, open the … menu on your live theme and choose Duplicate. Install on the copy, check it, then publish.

1. Download

Sign in at your account with the email you bought with. Each piece has a Download button. The zip contains:

  • sections/mb-<name>.liquid (a section) or blocks/mb-<name>.liquid (a theme block)
  • assets/mb-<name>.js and, for some pieces, assets/mb-<name>.css
  • README.txt and CHANGELOG.txt

2. Upload the files

  1. On the theme copy, open …› Edit code.
  2. In the sections (or blocks) folder choose Add a new file › Upload, and upload the Liquid file.
  3. In the assets folder upload every file from the zip's assets/ folder.

Keep the file names as they are: the Liquid file loads its assets by name.

3. Add it in the editor

  • Sections (Rail, Coffret, Cadence, Lookbook, Reel, Défilé): open Customize, choose Add section on any page and pick Maisonblock ….
  • Theme blocks (Fitting, Atelier Kit, Avant): open a product template, select the product information section and choose Add block › Maisonblock …. This needs a theme that accepts theme blocks there, such as Shopify's Horizon. On section-only themes such as Dawn, paste the block's markup into a custom Liquid block instead (the piece's guide shows how).

4. Configure

Every setting is listed at the bottom of each piece's guide and on its product page. Defaults are chosen so the piece looks finished straight away.

Compatibility, honestly

  • Written for Online Store 2.0 themes, following Shopify Horizon and Dawn conventions.
  • Each Liquid file is render-tested locally with sample shop data, including product names with quotes and ampersands, empty settings and filled settings.
  • Not yet verified in a live Shopify store. We will mark each piece "Store tested" once it has passed on Horizon and Dawn. Until then, please test on a theme copy.

Updating

Download the new version from your account and upload the same files again, replacing the old ones. Your settings live in the theme, not in the files, so they stay.

Removing

Remove the section or block in the editor, then delete its files in Edit code.
